My Spring Reflections
/“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
The Spring rains have come. The fields are planted. The new birth of creation is growing. God’s Word is alive. I continue to reflect in my morning devotions, and God continues to reveal His presence through His Word and the word shared by others. I hope you will reflect on what touched my heart this Spring. Here is some of the thoughts I wrote in my journal -
We should never lose the sense of wonder that God’s love for us is so undeserved but given freely.
Jesus said, “It is finished.” There is nothing left for you to add to the cross. Nothing left for you to earn, to prove. The debt is paid. You can stop striving for what is already secured – your salvation.
Prayer makes us wait as we give the situation to God. Prayer quiets my heart. You cannot pray and worry at the same time. Prayer is an act of trust.
God provides for me places of rest and enjoyment in everyday life where He restores me.
Good deeds are evidence of God’s Spirit working in and through us.
God is not asking us to keep up, He is asking us to slow down and meet Him.
God doesn’t answer to our schedule. God invites us into His.
It is in the quieter rhythm we find God’s voice, presence, and peace.
There is a longing, an emptiness in us to desire the fullness of joy with Jesus. It will be fulfilled in Heaven when we see Jesus face to face.
To completely trust in God’s work rather than our own is our ultimate Sabbath rest.
Stop spending time on decisions that are not yours to make.
Our first reaction to people and circumstances tell who we really are.
Jesus forgives our sin even before we commit it.
God knows the darkness of my life and doesn’t flinch or push me away – God just moves closer.
Trust is not built on knowing the road ahead. It is built on knowing the One who walks with you.
It is not the size of your faith that matters but the object of your faith – Jesus.
Confession is telling God what you did. It is not that God doesn’t already know, but the two of you need to agree. (Max Lucado)
When God called you – God knew your past sins and your future sins – and He still chose you and called you.
We are always in God’s line of sight. We won’t miss out on anything God has planned for us to experience.
When we take a wrong turn, God’s grace gently redirects not with shame but with guidance.
You are not what happened to you, you are what you choose to become.
Nothing surprises God. We question “why?” but God is working even in senseless tragedy.
Peace is the gift of God in the middle of the chaos and storm. It is not the reward after the storm.
It is exhausting trying to be your own Savior.
We may possess things, but God owns them all.
Our hope is not in our performance but in God’s open arms of grace.
We are to walk in moment-by-moment dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
God, not other people, are in charge of our situations and life.
Hope is a quiet, stubborn conviction that the light at the end is real, even when you cannot see it yet.
My hope is that one of these statements will resonate with you and help you on your journey closer to Jesus.
